Success stories from our scholars

Once Hongirana sponsors a child, we stay till the end. These are a few of the journeys we've had the privilege to walk alongside.

My journey began in a small native village where resources were scarce, but dreams were abundant. From 1st to 10th standard, I studied in my village school. Those early years taught me resilience, simplicity and the value of perseverance.

I completed my PUC at Mandavya Excellence PU College, Mandya. Coming from a rural and financially constrained background, the dream of becoming a doctor often felt like a distant mountain — visible, but difficult to reach. With determination and faith, I was blessed to crack NEET UG in my very first attempt.

During MBBS, Hongirana Charitable Trust became a true turning point in my life. The Trust took care of my hostel fees, books and other essential needs, lifting a tremendous burden from my family's shoulders. More than financial support, the Trust gave me hope, confidence and emotional strength.

I make a special mention of Dr. Vinay sir (Pediatrician, MIMS Mandya). He treated me not merely as a student, but like his own younger brother. His mentorship has played a profound role in shaping both my career and my character.

Today, I have joined MD General Medicine at MIMS Mandya — once again in my first attempt. I promise to honour this support by becoming a compassionate, dedicated and ethical physician, and by giving back to society just as I was supported when I needed it the most.

And the circle continues. Once a scholar of Hongirana, I am now a donor to the Trust — sponsoring another child's education so that the same lamp that was lit for me can light another young life. From receiving light to becoming light — that, to me, is the truest gift Hongirana has given.

It was my father's dream that I should study B.Sc. Nursing, and I chose this course to fulfil his wish. On 25 April 2022, I joined Mandya Institute of Nursing Sciences.

On 20 October 2022, my father passed away, leaving us in deep sorrow. I decided to discontinue my studies and take responsibility for my family. My educational journey felt unfinished.

At that crucial time, our Principal Clement sir spoke to me with great encouragement, and Dr. Vinay sir from the Pediatric Department informed me about the support of Hongirana Trust. With their help, I received significant financial assistance to continue my education.

Due to the emotional distress, I did not pass my first-year examinations. Dr. Vinay sir motivated me to appear for the supplementary exams. With his guidance I cleared them and was promoted to the second year. From that point onward, my academic performance steadily improved.

Today I am extremely happy and proud to share that I have successfully completed my final year with First Class. In the future, I sincerely wish to extend my support so that more deserving students may benefit and the Trust may continue to grow.

I'm Dr. Spoorthi Madhu, from CIMS Chamarajanagara, having successfully completed my MBBS degree and internship — which was once a dream, now a beautiful reality. One of the most important parts of this journey is Hongirana Charitable Trust.

From first year till final year, all other expenses apart from college fees were taken care of by Hongirana. Each time I ate in the mess, each time I read my books, I used to remember Hongirana.

I also received very valuable advice and inspiration from my seniors and from Dr. Vinay sir through Hongirana, which has helped me a lot in this MBBS journey and will continue to help me in the future too.

I am fortunate to be a part of Hongirana — from student to alumna. I am proud that I am able to contribute to the Trust, and will continue to be a part of the Trust forever. Thank you once again, sir.

I studied my primary schooling in our village. After 10th standard, my family could not afford the fees for further studies. Through well-wishers we came to know about Hongirana Trust, which sponsored my PUC fees along with several other students.

After PUC, my dream was to study engineering or MBBS. I appeared for CET and NEET. With the Trust's support, I joined B.E. in Electronics & Communication. I named this opportunity in my heart as 'Hongirana'.

During campus placements, I cleared interviews at multiple companies and was finally selected at L&T. The day I received my offer letter, I shared the joy with the Trust first — because this journey belongs to them as much as it belongs to me.

It is not only my success. It is the success of everyone who stood beside me in each and every step.

I am Dr. Ashpak M Manigar from Nargund, Gadag. My father is a cancer patient — he was diagnosed with oral cancer when I was studying in 7th standard. At that young age itself, I decided my dream was to become a doctor. Though I belong to a poor family and completed all my schooling in government schools, I never gave up on that dream.

Now, by God's grace and with Hongirana's support, I have successfully completed my MBBS and my internship. The Trust walked with me through every part of my MBBS journey — exam fees, books, mess fees, electricity fees, from 1st year MBBS right till final year.

Five years back, I met with an accident in which my tympanic membrane was ruptured and the incus was displaced, which later progressed to CSOM with conductive hearing loss. When I approached CIMS, surgery could not be arranged. After I shared the problem with the Trust, they kindly arranged my surgery at MIMS Mandya Hospital. Because of that operation, today I am able to hear well again.

Hongirana did not just help me financially — they stood by me at my hardest moments. In the future, I want to become a part of the Trust and help needy people just as they helped me. Forever grateful.

From losing his father to passing final-year MBBS

Their support not only helped me continue my medical education but also gave me hope and confidence to pursue my dream of becoming a doctor.

I am Lingaraj Gouda, from Udbal Village, Raichur District. I recently passed my final-year MBBS examinations and will soon be joining my internship. I would like to share my journey and express how Hongirana played a crucial role in helping me achieve my dream.

It was 2021, and I was preparing for NEET. My examination was scheduled for September, but suddenly the second wave of COVID-19 struck the world. I returned home, putting my preparation on hold. I lost my father to COVID-19 in May 2021. Amidst this, I appeared for NEET in September and secured a medical seat at Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS).

After getting admission, I was worried about managing my college and hostel fees. My mother works as an Anganwadi teacher, and my sister was also pursuing her education. Meeting all the expenses became extremely difficult for our family.

At that time, I came to know about Hongirana through a sir associated with a news channel. I contacted Dr. Vinay sir and explained my situation. After understanding my circumstances, sir obtained approval from the Trust to provide me with a scholarship. Since then, Hongirana has supported me by covering my hostel fees, examination fees and the cost of books — every quarter, sir transfers the required amount in advance, allowing me to focus on my studies without financial stress.

I will forever remain grateful to Hongirana for standing by me during the most challenging phase of my life. As I begin my internship, I am eager to give back and make my own small contribution from my stipend as a gesture of gratitude. I sincerely thank Hongirana, Dr. Vinay sir, and everyone associated with the Trust for believing in me and supporting me throughout this journey.
